2012 News! "That's Entertainment" Showcase 2012. We are working towards our 3rd Annual Showcase "That's Entertaiment" which will take palce in the Abbey Centre, Ballyshannon on Saturday 23rd June 2012 at 7.30pm. A great show not to be missed, full of Drama/Comedy/Dance/Song & lots of surprises showcasing all of our children. New children are always welcome to join us! Stars of the West is home to Ireland's & the North-West's newest dance & performance classes! 

Opened in September 2009 in locations in Donegal,Letrim & Sligo, our classes aim to offer a fun & friendly environment where children from ages 4 upwards get to express their creativity through dance, song, acting & performance!

Our Tots classes cover a wide range of music, dance and drama styles introducing 4-6 year olds to the basics of the Performing Arts. The children have a 45 min class covering all kinds of music,dance, songs and drama suitable to their age & development with emphasis on fun, fun, fun!

Our Junior, Senior & Young Adult classes cover a wide range of dance styles including jazz ballet, lyrical, hip-hop & musical theatre. Singing,Drama & performance skills will also play a big part in their weekly classes.

Our performance days will showcase all children & will show their creative talents & family & friends their progression. These performance days also provide a great opportunity to show the children all aspects of the Performing Arts including; teamwork in supporting each other's performances, the "behind the scenes" of a show (Costumes / Make-up Applications / Props / Sets /  working with an Orchestra amongst others!

All the children need is enthusiasm & a willingness to learn! From the moment they arrive, they will make new friends, learn new skills & hopefully take away memories of their dance & performing days that will last a lifetime!

RECENT EVENTS we have taken part in:

"BELLE OF BUNDORAN,INTERVAL ENTERTAINMENT" - APRIL 2012

Some of our Senior children recently took part in the "Belle of Bundoran" event (a Fundraiser for Bundoran GAA Club) on 20th April in the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran. We provided the Interval Entertainment & the crowd of over 600 people loved their performance!

EASTER CAMP - APRIL 2012

We had a fantastic 3 day Easter Camp in our Bundoran Venue. Our Guest tutor was Farah Bogle - Farah is studying for a Degree in Music in the University of Derry. Farah has performed & sang all over Ireland & she performed the Lead Role of "Annie Oakley" in "Annie Get Your Gun" with Ballyshannon Musical Society.We were delighted to have Farah work with us. We learned songs,drama & dance routines to artists such as Jessie J,Katy Perry,& Musicals "The Lion King" & "Oliver" etc & everyone had great fun! 

BALLYSHANNON MUSICAL "THE SOUND OF MUSIC" - MARCH 2012

2 of our Students ; Heather Doyle (Kinlough class) and Sorcha Feehily (Ballyshannon class)  played Lead Roles  in "The Sound of Music" in the Abbey Centre,Ballyshannon in March. Past pupils Sorcha Sweeny, Andrea McGlynn, Tara Bromley & Sophie O'Donnell also performed in this fantastic Musical over 6 nights to full houses & standing ovations. The girls got fantastic reviews & had great fun performing in this fantastic production!

ST PATRICK'S DAY PARADE  MARCH 2012;

On Saturday 17th March, we marched & performed in the Bundoran St Patrick's Day Parade for the 3rd year in a row. The weather was great & we had lots of fun costumes, face paint, glitter etc for everyone, so a great time was had by all the children!

BALLYSHANNON PANTOMINE "LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD" - DECEMBER 2011

A large amount of our children took part in "Little Red Riding Hood" (which Suzanne choreographed) in the Abbey Centre,Ballyshannon as part of a team of over 100 children who performed over 6 nights. We had great support, fantastic reviews & an amazing amount of talent was shown in a fantastic production!

"BALLYSHANNON CARNIVAL" - OCTOBER 2011

Over 30 of our older children took part in the Cirque Du Samier Ballyshannon Carnival on 8th October. This late night event was fantastic fun & everyone had a great time. Along with the LUXE Street Performers, Circus Performbers & Acrobats etc, we along with other local groups, showed a fantastic array of colur & costumes, and we were delighted to be part of this annual event!

"EURO SURF EVENT" - SEPTEMBER 2011

We had the honor of being the Team Mascots for the 13 European Teams that competed in the Euro Surf Competition in Bundoran in late September. The children from our school lead the Teams with pride being the Banner Carriers & Team Mascots for Ireland,England,Wales,France,Germany,Spain,Portugal,Belgium,Norway,                                                                         Sweden,Switzerland,Morocco, and The Channel Islands.Dressed in the country colours, they lead the Teams at the Opening Ceremony & a huge crowd of local & Interntational visitors watched them perform. The remainder of the children from the school were fantastic, colourful clowns who helped entertain everyone. it was a day & event to remember!

SUMMER CAMP  - AUGUST 2011

We had a fantastic "Summer Camp" in August in our Bundoran venue with Guest Tutor David Moore & lots of new children joined us. It was 3 fun filled days of dance, singing, drama, arts & crafts & everyone had a great time.

"STRICTLY COME DANCING ENTERTAINMENT" - JULY 2011

Some of the children recently took part in the "Strictly Come Dancing" event with Belleek Erne Gaels GAA Club on 15th July in the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran. We provided the Interval Entertainment & the crowd of over 500 people loved their performance!

ANNUAL SHOWCASE - JUNE 2011 - ABBEY CENTRE, BALLYSHANNON:

Our 2nd Annual Showcase "Musical Melodies" took place on 19th June 2011 in Abbey Centre, Ballyshannon. All of the children from the School performed on the night. It was a great Variety show with songs,dance & drama from "The Wizard of Oz", "High School Musical", "Glee", "Barnum" & lots more. We had some fantastic solo performances on the night with the children also playing Guitar, Keyboard,Violins,Break-dancing,Juggling, Hula-hooping etc. We had 2 great Artists Dez Allen(London West End Dancer) & David Moore(International Singer & Actor) who performed with the children on the night. All the parents,family & friends really enjoyed the show & were very proud of how much hard work the students had put in since September. All of the children were awarded Medals and Certificates of Achievement, and also Trophies for Best Progress in the Junior & Senior Sections of each class as well as Best Overall Students. We got great reviews & some great photos in the Donegal Democrat showcasing the children's hard-work.

David has performed & sang with the show all over the world in countries like Russia, China, America, Australia etc & he has recently performed in "Fiddler on the Roof" in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin & also "Footloose" in the Mill Theatre, Dundrum. David taught at our Easter & Summer Camps last year. We were delighted he returned to work with us. We learned songs,drama & dance routines to artists such as Jessie J,Katy Perry,& Musicals "Mamma Mia" & "Wicked" & everyone had great fun! 

ST PATRICK'S DAY PARADE & KINLOUGH VARIETY SHOWCASE MARCH 2011;

All of the children took part in the Kinlough Variety Showcase on Wednesday 16th March. They were delighted to be performing & to help raise funds for the Kinlough Community Centre. Well done to everyone on a great performance. On Thursday 17th March, we marched & performed in the Bundoran St Patrick's Day Parade. The weather was great & we had lots of fun costumes, face paint, glitter etc for everyone, so a great few days was had by all the children!

CHRISTMAS PANTOMINE "CINDERELLA" & KINLOUGH VARIETY SHOWCASE DECEMBER 2010;

A large number of our children performed in the Ballyshannon Pantomine "Cinderella" in the Abbey Centre in early December!Although the weather was against us, we had great support, fantastic reviews & an amazing amount of talent was shown in a fantastic production! 

All of the children performed in the Kinlough Community Variety Showcase on Dec 11th. They performed songs & dances from Annie/Oliver/S Club 7, Christmas songs & a very special well done to all the new children who's 1st time it was to perform on stage. It was our 2nd year to perform in this showcase & the audience loved our group routines!

ANNUAL SHOWCASE - SAT & SUN 29th & 30th May 2010 in the ABBEY CENTRE, BALLYSHANNON:

Our first end of Year Showcase "Music, Song & Dance" took place in the Abbey Centre, Ballyshannon on Saturday May 29th & Sunday May 30th. Involving all the children from the school performing excerpts from "Mary Poppins", "Jungle Book", "Bugsy Malone", "High School Musical" & more!, it was 2 fantastic nights showcasing the childrens amazing talents! We got great reviews & the children really enjoyed their first experience and of the challenge of a 2 hour Variety Show, costume changes, working with an orchestra,Microphones etc & showing their parents, families & friends all they had learned throughout their first year.

EASTER & SUMMER CAMPS 2010:

We had fabulous Easter & Summer Camps in 2010. We learned dance & songs to the music of Lady Gaga, Glee!, The Wizard of Oz etc, so everyone had great fun. Our tutors were Suzanne & Guest Tutors (Sarah Vaughan  - winner of Best Singer in all Irish Musicals AIMS 2010 / David Moore, Lead singer with International show "Rhythm of the Dance") & Dez Allen (Professional dancer in London West End Musicals like Cats, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Starlight Express & more) ensured everyone had a great time!
